A word from the Founder

Over three decades of commitment to independent engineering — a vision born from the conviction that Africa deserves infrastructure designed with rigour, by those who understand its environment.

About AGC

"A country's development can be read in the state of its infrastructure. In Sub-Saharan Africa, this remains a pressing reality — it is the reason Afrika German Consult was founded."

Over the decades, Sub-Saharan Africa has made substantial investment efforts — in building new infrastructure as well as rehabilitating existing assets. These efforts are considerable, and reflect a genuine commitment to development. Yet the overall condition of infrastructure too often remains marked by incompleteness, deterioration and a lack of maintenance.

The causes are well identified, and they are avoidable:

A lack of planning and rational analysis
Poorly calibrated investment choices
Insufficient oversight during project execution
Inadequate training of local project management teams
Weak operational management of assets after delivery

Elsewhere in the world, the independent engineering consultant occupies a central place in the infrastructure project value chain, serving as the guarantor of planning and rational asset management. In Sub-Saharan Africa, this culture of independent engineering consultancy was, at the time of our founding, still underdeveloped and insufficiently rooted in local practice.

It was to fill this gap that Afrika German Consult was created, now more than 35 years ago. Our founding conviction was simple: the best infrastructure is that which is designed and supervised by engineers who understand both international standards and the realities of the African terrain.

To achieve the best results in this technically demanding sector, AGC adopted a pragmatic approach — working alongside leading international engineering firms. These strategic partnerships have allowed us to raise our practice, gain access to the standards set by major institutional funders, and deliver projects that meet the strictest requirements.

Today, AGC is a fully independent firm, having trained more than 220 engineers locally, with a presence in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo, and a portfolio of more than 180 projects delivered in the energy, water, infrastructure and environment sectors. This trajectory is the result of the trust our clients and partners have placed in us — trust we commit to earning, every day.

Africa's future is being built with method. AGC will continue to be a reliable, rigorous and fully committed partner in that effort.

Leadership commitments

The three pillars of our practice.

International standards, African terrain

The methods inherited from our international partnerships form the backbone of our practice. Every deliverable goes through multi-level quality control, aligned with the requirements of international funders — and local realities.

Total independence, without compromise

AGC represents no contractor, supplier or equipment manufacturer. Our sole interest is that of the project owner. This independence is not a marketing argument but a structural condition since 1990.

Local expertise, lasting impact

More than 220 engineers trained and developed within AGC. Investing in African expertise is not a posture — it is the foundation of our model. Knowledge of the terrain cannot be imported; it is built locally, which is what makes it irreplaceable.
